Climate School organizes a webinar “Our Health and Climate Change”.. Register now

The Climate School is organizing a webinar entitled “Our Health and Climate Change” on Thursday, 19/9/2024, at 7:00 PM Cairo time (GMT+3), to discuss the direct and indirect health impacts of climate change and how to enhance journalistic coverage of health issues related to climate change.

The session will be moderated by Ms. Nourhan El-Sherbiny, an Egyptian researcher, assistant lecturer, and holder of a Master’s degree in Digital Media from the Arab Academy. A number of experts will participate in the session to learn more deeply about the threats and to exchange ideas and experiences on ways to confront them. The guests of this session are:

- Dr. Amr Awad:
An Egyptian-French physician with a Master’s degree in Public Health, he is the Medical Advocacy Advisor for MSF’s Geneva office and the Climate Health Focal Point. Over the past 20 years, he has worked in various health programmes in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Before joining MSF, Amr worked with several organisations, including UNICEF, WHO, IPPF, UN Women and the African Union Commission.

- Engineer Mohammed Al-Yatari:
Executive Director of the Arab Youth Network for Sustainable Development, Mechatronics Engineer from Yemen, trainer and lecturer in climate change, participated in many regional and international conferences, including the Regional Youth Conference RCOY, the World Youth Conference COY18, the 28th Conference of the Parties in Dubai COP28 as an observer, as well as the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development held in Beirut AFSD2024 and the sixth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly in Nairobi UNEA6. He also participated in many workshops as an expert in climate change in the Middle East and North Africa and is considered one of the influential youth in raising awareness about climate change in Yemen.

Journalist Fatima Yassin:
A journalist from Morocco, and a researcher in the field of environment, climate and sustainable development. She has won several national and international awards and grants in reporting and investigation, and collaborates with Arab websites such as Al-Ain News and Sky News Arabia.

- Dr. Roy Ahmed:
5th year medical student, University of Khartoum, Sudan, YOUNGO Global Coordination Team Member, Arab Youth Green Voices Network Advisory Board Member, CEO/Founder of AfriClimActiv, Changemaker for Plant 2024, YALI Alumna.
