Climate School launches “Climate and Environmental Fact Checking” guide

Climate skepticism, greenwashing and the spread of fake and misleading news are affecting efforts to address climate change. In an age of increasing information and the rapid spread of news through new media (social media platforms and the Internet), this information has become a real threat to public awareness and understanding of vital issues.

The Climate School is launching the guide “Climate and Environmental Fact-Checking… Vaccinating Against Environmental Skepticism and Denial,” prepared by journalist and international public law researcher Reem Bin Khalifa, with the aim of providing readers, journalists, policymakers, and those interested in the field of environment and climate change with the tools and knowledge necessary to identify fake, misleading, and harmful news, greenwashing activities, and attempts at climate skepticism, and how to deal with and confront them effectively. The guide reviews the methods used to spread this news, and provides practical tips for verifying the accuracy of information and avoiding falling into the trap of misinformation.

We live in a time that requires us to be vigilant and carefully investigate before believing or spreading any information. Therefore, it is necessary to contribute to building an informed and responsible environmental and climate awareness.
